He has played in numerous bluegrass, country and pop bands during his career and has performed throughout the Northeastern US, from Calais-St. Stephen (N.B. Canada) to Pennsylvania, and beyond to Mazatl\u00e1n, Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was a member of Canadian country music icon <a href=\"https:\/\/joankennedymusic.com\/band\/\">Joan Kennedy\u2019s<\/a> band for more than a decade, performing mostly in New England. He performed in a concert series with the Kennedy band in Mazatl\u00e1n Mexico for two successive years. He wrote the music and lyrics for \u201c<em>The Old St. John<\/em>,\u201d a popular song recorded by Joan and released in Canada\u00a0 to commemorate the devasting floods along the St. John River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tom has also recorded and performed with Maine music legend and and five-time Emmy Award nominee Con Fullam, who wrote and produced a four-volume entitled \u201c<em>The First 40 Years,<\/em>\u201d among many other musical achievements. Tom performed with Fullam\u2019s ensemble in that album\u2019s release concert in 2018 at One Longfellow Square in Portland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the mid-200&#8217;s Tom collaborated with musician Jeremy Dalton, writing the lyrics for nearly a dozen of Dalton\u2019s musical arrangements and performing with him in Allentown, Pennsylvania to debut some of his music. He is also founder and a former member of the <em>Poorboys<\/em>, a Maine-based trio that performed throughout Maine for more than a decade with noted Maine blues singer Ray Cyr and musician Joanne Fisher.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tom has taught Music (banjo and Mandolin) for nearly 20 years and is a long-time member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tom Welch is a musician-songwriter and teacher living in the mid-coast Maine town of Bristol.
